How do I use TaxExpress?
TaxExpress is easy to use. Simply enter information from your completed federal return and
withholding forms (W-2s and 1099s) when prompted. TaxExpress then calculates your Utah tax for
you.
"Instruction" buttons on each screen guide you through every step with useful tips and
information.
Follow the steps below to use TaxExpress:
- Complete your 2008 federal income tax return. You will need information from your federal
return to complete your Utah return.
- Have your 2007 Utah income tax return available. You will be asked to
enter the federal adjusted gross income shown on that return. If you did not file a Utah
return last year, you cannot use TaxExpress.
- Have your W-2s from all employers and 1099 forms available.
- Access TaxExpress at taxexpress.utah.gov beginning January 11, 2009.
- Print a copy of your return to keep with your records when you are done.
Do not send a copy of this return to the Tax Commission.
What if I owe taxes?
TaxExpress is convenient even if you owe taxes. Choose one of these payment methods:
- Payment Express – Pay with your credit card
(American Express, MasterCard or Discover) or an electronic check; or
- Mail your payment with a coupon printed from TaxExpress.
