E-Filing With a Tax Preparer

If a professional tax preparer completes your tax returns, you can ask the preparer to electronically file BOTH your Utah and federal returns. This will assure the greatest filing accuracy, speed your refund and provide a filing receipt.

Find an E-File Provider

Click here to locate the nearest authorized IRS e-file provider. Enter a ZIP Code to get a list of nearby e-file providers.

How Does It Work?

The electronic filing software transmits your return information to the IRS. The IRS receives and processes the electronic file. You do not send a paper copy of your return to the IRS or the Utah State Tax Commission.

Owe Tax?

If you owe tax, you can still e-file early and pay your balance due by April 15. Choose one of these payment methods:

  1. Payment Express – Pay with your credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Discover) or an electronic check; or
  2. By Mail – Send your payment Form TC-547, Individual Income Tax Return Payment Coupon. Write your social security number and the tax year on your check or money order and mail with your coupon to the following address by midnight, April 15, 2009.

Utah State Tax Commission

Refund

Your refund can be electronically deposited in your bank or credit union account.
